The Mela has always strived to ensure that every year it bridges boundaries, connects cultures and breaks barriers, which hamper national integration, and a wide variety of these performances attribute significantly in this mission. The effervescent Kazakhstan dance group is entertaining the audience thoroughly with their spectacular performances. They are staging their national dances that depict the beauty of this Central Asian country that is abundant in natural resources. The name of the group is Shalkema, which is performing at the Mela and its dance movements & music represent festivities to the core.
This year, folk artistes from Russia performing at the Surajkund International Crafts Mela are staging unique and interesting folk dance forms like Kalinka and Barina, which need a perfect fancy stomping and squatting along with matching hand and body movement. Egypt’s Reda troupe that has performed worldwide is now presenting an Egyptian style of Tanura at the ongoing Surajkund International Crafts Mela. Tanura is performed on Sufi music and encompasses traditional & oriental dance moves. Then there is Alasyedi dance that has both men and women performers dancing with sticks in tandem. The famous belle dance movements are also reflected in a subtle way through their dances.
The famous Samurai, martial art of Japan, is represented in the dance form that has performers using sword. This performance blends meditation, spiritualism and discipline, the folk artiste presents it all through this engrossing art form. The most appreciated dances presented by Kyrgyz artistes are those in which they have donned outfits of traditional Indian dancers and performed on Hindi songs with choreography at its best.
